About Us
Background to Maritime Security Scotland
The Maritime Security Industry is very much a growth industry and increasingly requires highly experienced operatives, drawing its expertise from ex-military personnel – Army, Royal Navy & RAF. The barrier to employment is the lack of the required Maritime Qualifications. Time & time again we hear of vastly experienced Military and ex-military personnel who possess extensive, often global combat experience, who cannot "break into" the industry.
Maritime Security Scotland - We are a subsidiary of the UK's largest Maritime Training company with over 25 years experience in Maritime Training, and is justifiably proud of its reputation for facilitating and delivering STCW 95 short courses. Certificated, in-house instructors provide this training through offices in Glasgow. Reassuringly we work to standards laid down by the International Maritime Organisation in the STCW code approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and works under ISO 9001:2008 Quality accreditation.

MSS Focus
The high profile growth in attacks upon commercial shipping in High-Risk Areas (HRA) throughout the world, coupled with changes to legislation surrounding the armed protection of UK registered ships, has led to a considerable rise in the requirement for Maritime Security Specialists who can provide highly trained, armed protection and defence.
Reported incidents of piracy show that most vessels under attack have less than 15 to 30 minutes between the first sighting of the pirates and their boarding of the ship and taking of hostages.
Our training courses will equip you to fully prepare for such occurrences, including preventative measures, and evaluate proportionate responses to each situation – both armed and unarmed.
As a qualified Maritime Security Specialist, you will be trained to develop and advise in the planning and implementation of Ship Security Plans and Best Management Practices (BMP4), adhering to all requirements stipulated by STCW.
‘Over and above any other security measure, awareness is the key’
